EMILYN COSTA CONCEIÇÃO
UNIVERSIDADE DE STELLENBOSHEmilyn is a Biologist (UFPA, Brazil), holding a master’s degree in Infectious Disease (UEPA, Brazil) and a PhD in Microbiology (UFRJ, Brazil/Paris-Sud University, France). Her current research as a postdoctoral fellow at Stellenbosch University (South Africa) focuses on precision medicine, precision prevention and precision public through a whole-genome sequencing approach as part of the “Sequencing Mycobacteria and Algorithm-Determined Resistant Tuberculosis Treatment (Smartt) Trial” under the Tuberculosis Omics ResearCH (TORCH) consortium. Emilyn also coordinates the “Precision Action for Rifampicin-Resistant Tuberculosis (PARR-TB)” within the GenPath-Africa consortium. She is a member of Tuberculosis Genomics (TBG) and works closely with Antwerp University, Belgium. In Brazil, she is part of the “Tuberculosis Genomic Surveillance Network” (REVIGET) and “Mycobacterial Genomes from Brazil” (GEMIBRA) projects. Emilyn has experience with Molecular Epidemiology, Mycobacteriology, Genomics within both academic and routine diagnostics environments. She is interested in next-generation sequencing technologies, bioinformatics, antimicrobial drug resistance evolution, capacity-building and translational research.
