Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry (Oswaldo Cruz Faculty, 1997), Master’s degree in Parasitology from the Institute of Energetic and Nuclear Research - USP (1999), Doctorate in Parasitology (Institute of Biomedical Sciences - USP) (2003) with a sandwich period at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) - University of London (supervised by Prof. Simon L. Croft). Postdoctoral studies at UNIFESP (Physiology). Area of expertise: New drugs for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) with an emphasis on Leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, and since 2017, multi-drug-resistant bacteria. Develops in vitro and in vivo efficacy studies of pharmaceutical prototypes (Drug Discovery), studying mechanisms of action and therapeutic associations. One focus of the research is the isolation of low molecular weight molecules from marine invertebrates, marine bacteria, and extremophiles. Production: publications: 158 articles (H-index 35); supervision of 12 master’s theses, 11 doctoral theses, and 5 postdoctoral projects.
